Events Book signing with typographer Stephen Banham

Called a ‘typographic evangelist’ by Eye magazine, Stephen Banham is founder of Letterbox, a typographic studio based in Melbourne. Stephen will be talking about his latest work at a very spatial type of event at the Oxford Hotel, Leederville.

He has written over 16 publications on typography and has spoken at international design events from Barcelona to Beirut, New Zealand to New York. His design work and typefaces produced from his foundry have been featured in countless design annuals and publications.

A member of the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD), Banham has been a lecturer in typography since 1991 and holds a Masters in Design Research.

Characters: Cultural Stories Revealed Through Typography His most recent book Characters: Cultural stories revealed through typography has been recently receiving acclaim in reviews in media as wide-scoping as The New York Times through right through to the design media like Codex, Paul Shaw, Typo and Eye. In 2011 he was awarded a Creative Fellowship at the State Library of Victoria.

Characters is a collection of quirky, poignant and often funny stories drawn from his research on a city's typography. Stephen will be signing copies of the book at the event.
