Events In-store signing with Ronda Jamieson, author of Charles Court: I Love This Place

Come to Boffins and meet Ronda Jamieson, accomplished Western Australian historian and author of the new biography of one the most prominent and influential figures in our State's history: Sir Charles Court.

To understand where we're going, we must understand where we've been. Ronda Jamieson is one of the invaluable few who strive to bring the history of our country to life for new generations of Australians - not only by preserving the facts of what happened and when, but by capturing the everyday moments that define our lives. She employed her skills as an oral historian over many years working for the Battye Library, an arm of the State Library of Western Australia. After completing a PhD, her attention turned to Sir Charles Court.

Fearless politician, visionary, statesman, father, musician - Sir Charles Court was many things to many people. Ronda has drawn from thousands of hours of interviews and meticulous research to produce this combination of autobiography and biography, revealing the man Geoffrey Blainey called "one of the most creative politicians in Australia's history". Charles Court: I Love This Place is the story of Sir Charles Court and the progressive and sometimes divisive decisions made during his 30 year political life. It is not only the story of Sir Charles' personal and family life, it is also an economic and political history of post-war Western Australia.

Ronda will appear at Boffins to answer your questions and sign copies of this wonderful book.
