Don't miss our Q&A event with Rabia Siddique on Tuesday 15th October. Click here for more details.

Growing up as a muslim in the mono-cultural landscape of 1970s suburban Perth, Rabia Siddique knew what it was like to be different. She trained at UWA as lawyer, moved to the UK and joined the British army as a legal officer.

Shortly afterwards, she found herself in Iraq, deployed as a human rights monitor for the British army. After an incident in which she was taken hostage at gunpoint and negotiated the release of herself and three others, she made headlines fighting in court for recognition of her role in that day's events - and shone a light on the Army's institutional discrimination in the process.

Issues of discrimination in the military continue to make waves in the Australian media, and as an accomplished lawyer, a soldier, a Muslim and a woman, Rabia is uniquely placed to speak about them. Equal Justice is fascinating book from a truly unique perspective.
